Ask the Vet

ASK DR. SCHELLING

Dear Dr. Schelling,

I was just talking to my neighbor, and she told me that her cat was diagnosed with ringworm by her veterinarian. What is ringworm and what are its symptoms? Is it a worm? Can my cat get it too?

–Shelly
Dear Shelly,

Ringworm, despite the name, is not a worm. It is a fungal skin disease that can infect dogs, cats, human beings, and a variety of other animals. Click here to read the full article.

DEAR FANCY,

I seem to be spending more time playing with my cats' toys than he does. Is there anything I can do to get him interested in playing again? He seems so bored.

BEEKS CATNIP BIRD: I may not be able to play with the birds that hang outside of my favorite sunbathing window but I can have high flying fun with the Beeks Catnip Bird. This bird is stuffed with catnip to get me zooming around the room and has a rattle that lets everyone know I'm in play mode while I am tossing, kicking and chewing.

KONG ZOOM GROOM: I love a good grooming session and the Kong Zoom Groom has become my new favorite brush. Its soft rubber bristles feel great and help promote healthy hair and skin while removing my loose fur.
