ASK DR. SCHELLING

Dear Dr. Schelling,

I really liked the informative article you shared in the last Mewsletter on First Aid for Cats and was wondering if you had a list of supplies a cat owner should have to make their own kit?

–Jessica

DEAR FANCY,

My human has a friend who is always saying things about cats that I know are just rumors! You know, things like Siamese cats aren't friendly and that we only purr when we are happy. Can you please let this human know fact from fiction? I would tell him myself but he doesn't speak cat.

Dear Myth Butser,

I get plenty of questions about cat myths, there happen to be a lot since we are so mysterious! So, in order to set the record straight and shed some light on our mysterious ways I have decided to write a four part series on cat myths. You can check out part one of Cat Myths and Misconceptions covering a few of the myths you have mentioned here.

DA BIRD: Who can resist the quavering feathers of Da Bird? Not I.

Blue ones, brown ones, yellow ones . . . fluttering by me—I must give chase! This "bird" is my favorite because I can catch it over and over!

CAT SITTER DVD: Sometimes I can be a couch potato kitty. But my humans have figured out a way to keep me active and entertained when all I want to do is lounge around, they got me the Cat Sitter DVD. It has everything I love! There are birds, fish and even squirrels—it's the closest thing I have to being outside only I can still hang in the living room.
