Responses to Where Do Your Cats Sleep?
There is no limit to cats' creativity when it comes to choosing places to sleep. These pictures from Mewsletter readers give you a glimpse of some of the methods of the master sleepers. Thanks to everyone who has submitted entries. Does your cat have any interesting or unusual sleeping choices? We want to know! Send a picture and a brief explanation, including kitty's name, to comments@mewsletter.com.
Looks like someone doesn't want someone else to work. Miss Millee makes sure her person takes breaks.
Two cats blocking the screen—that can be quite formidable. Might as well call it a day. Miss Millie and Macho, in their favorite sleeping spot, may be thinking to themselves, "mission accomplished."
Thanks to Sharon for sharing pictures of her two sleepers. Although with all the time they spend in front of the computer, the
cats may have sent the pictures themselves.
Here's Trixie relaxing in a comfy spot. But his favorite place to sleep . . . is on top of the washing machine.
He's got the sleeping thing down pretty good.
Thanks to Emily for her pictures of Trixie. If you can get a shot of Trixie sleeping on the washing machine — we want that picture!
Speaking of flip-flops (see photo above) . . .
China's favorite place to sleep is on flip-flops.
Whereas Sophie likes to sleep in them.
Some cats like to sleep in boxes. But this way? Chloe was thinking outside the box, or perhaps inside the box, when she came up with this creative sleeping arrangement.
Thanks to Cathy for pictures of this wonderful trio.
Zack's "mom", Laurie, says it best: "My cat sleeps every night in the bathroom sink. He's done this since the day we brought him home from the shelter."
Thanks, Laurie and Zack.
Earnie, in classical cat fashion, likes to sleep in boxes.
Including some very small boxes. Earnie also has a favorite chair in which he likes to sleep. Everyone knows that one of our jobs is to keep the chair
warm, so kitty can sleep in it as soon as we get up.
Thanks, Charlotte (and Earnie too, of course).
Kelly has several favorite places to sleep. Her routine each night is to give equal time to both of her humans. For the first half of the night, she snuggles up to Delyne's husband. Then she comes over to Delyne, puts her paw around her neck, and sleeps nose to nose. In the morning, Delyne wakes up to purring.
Kelly also likes to sleep curled around the cockatoo lamp. There may be some hidden symbolism here; we'll leave that to the imagination of Mewsletter readers.
Another of Kelly's favorite sleeping spots is in her human-made cave on the couch. (Notice the Soft Paws.)
Here she is just being cute.
Thank you to Delyne.
Here's Akai snoozing in front of the furnace with one of his canine friends.
Do you ever watch cats sleeping and think to yourself, "How can they be comfortable in those positions?" And yet they are.
One of the rules when living with cats is that when there's a cat asleep on your lap, you ain't movin' anywhere soon.
Thanks to Sue for the photos and backstory.
Here's Niko appropriating some couch space . . .
. . . and helping with chores.
Thanks to Kara (Niko's human).
Buster likes to curl up on his tray table, but only when his trusty human is nearby, working on the computer, so he can keep him company.
Thanks to Daniel.
Gaspar is on TV—sort of. Gaspar had been abandoned, and was in bad shape, when he was rescued by a kind human, and, well . . .
. . .look at him now. Oh, and he likes to sleep in both these places, too!
Many thanks to Ana.
That's an unusual-looking Christmas decoration. Oh wait, that's Gato sleeping in the tree.
Here Gato is being environmentally responsible and re-using a grocery bag. A diligent human took the precaution of snipping the handles.
Gracias to Jennifer.
